Sayab

A jungle by the sea where functions, matrices, and numbers live.

Overview

Sayab is built on top of Kukulkan, an underwater lake where numbers and Equals were first created. The Functions evolved from fishes which used to create currents to relate the numbers to each other.

Away from the town center, there is a port where a lot of models live. There is a market filled with restaurants. One stall sells snake sushi. Bars around the market sell Stochasticity which add noise to the calculations and make people jumpy.

The Numbers

Numbers are like gnomes that can change shape depending on their number system. Numbers can get captured in droplets of water. Functions wear goggles defining a number system to spot individual numbers.

Water has a water cycle. Numbers are the liquid form of water, proofs are its gaseous form, and empirical knowledge is its solid form.

The Order of Operations

The Order of Operations are the richest patrons of Sayab. The Order is made up of a family of functions. Division and Multiplication are the heads of the family. They have two daughters, Addition and Subtraction.

The Functions

The functions bend water. When they grab water, they initiate a number line. They define the range of the number line with their right and left hand. For example, functions using the teachings of the parent function sin(x) will practice oscillating a curve between both hands.

Function can differentiate and integrate. When they differentiate, a function will change the shape of the stream of water they are controlling to explain the changes that gave their original function shape.

A function grows stronger the more it is applied. How the function reflects its strength is up to them: some grow wise, while others grow deranged.

When a function’s importance is not to be questioned for some time, the Order of Operations will call on the symbols to give the function an official statue, or operator, like "Σ".

The Dance of the Function

Sayab is known for its dance style called math. Rather than produce red blood cells, the bones of Sayab's habitants produce numbers. The negative side of their bodies represents negative numbers while the right side represents positive numbers. All numbers connect at 0, or the heart, which is also referred to as infinity.

Equals

Equals tended to the statues. She was a historian but spent most time polishing headstones. She greatly related with “shi” from Chinese. Without equals we would not have variables.

Equals wasn’t an answer to a question nor was she a bridge. She was more like a graveyard digger giving dead life meaning. Some might say Equals was Aphrodite.

Descriptive Statistics

The Descriptive Statistics are a band of cousins that left Sayab to explore the world. They cook outdoors and hang out in trees.

The Probability Events

Probability Events live on the outskirts of Sayab. The winds created the Probability Events given the winds' needs for certainty.

Events are known to have large necklaces made of beads filled with probabilities. Each bead corresponds to the associated event space. Probabilities can get updated and some get redefined when a probability event gos to sleep and dreams either Frequentist or Bayesian dreams.

When looked upon by the winds, the events might seem to grow as monsters or hide like bacteria. This is called an event's estimation or underestimation. The twins, Optimism and Pessimism bias, are sometimes at fault for that.

The Matrices

Matrices are another name for sails of ships. True, the Matrices come alive and dance a top a cliff overlooking an ocean. But E will tell you more about that eventually.

Markov Chains

Markov Chains uses matrices, or sails for his windsurf, to transition from one state to another. A state is like a square platform that glows on the surface of the water. Markov Chains spends the day sewing probabilities on each compartment of his matrix.
